STATE SCHOOL INFRASTRUCTURE

  • Draft amendments to the regulations on minimum norms and standards have been gazetted for public comment. Focusing on planning for creating an enabling learning environment by ensuring compliance with the November 2013 regulations, among other things the draft amendments deal with:
    • mud schools
    • the use of asbestos in school infrastructure
    • power and water supply
    • adequate classroom accommodation, and
    • perimeter fencing.

 

ZONDO COMMISSION

  • A notice has been gazetted:
    • confirming that there has been no change to the 15 June 2022 deadline by which President Cyril Ramaphosa should have received the Commission’s final report, and
    • extending the Commission’s term of office by four more months, allowing it time to attend to the administrative functions entailed in winding down operations.
  • At the time of writing, the Presidency had yet to issue a media statement on the matter.
